Another Hungry Nomad

Another day, another roadtrip! This time, we headed west and south – our final destination was Vardzia, a cave monastery site built in the 12th century. M had already been once on a work trip (and made the hike in heels!) but was game for another visit. Along the way, Kvicha, our driver, had a few interesting and surprising detours in store for us…

First stop was Borjomi, an adorable resort town that is the source of the Borjomi sparkling water  – we stopped here to fill up two jugs of the water – bubbling up from a tap out of this very river…

After we filled up on water, Kvicha also went and picked up some meat and other ingredients at a Georgian market (not pictured) – this comes into our story a bit later. Trunk full of an assortment of meat, herbs…
